Halloween for the Hungry

By Todd Brechbill Halloween2

The Conquest St. Timothy’s Group in Chantilly, VA organized their annual Halloween for the Hungry apostolic service project.  Len Rice, the Conquest leader said that all 30 Conquest members were involved and participated.  They passed out flyers one week ahead of time in neighborhoods to notify residents that they would be collecting nonperishable food items on Halloween night.  The boys went door to door collecting the food while trick or treating.  They were a great Christ-like example to local residents of young men who care about others, and not just themselves – even on a night that is supposed to be all about the candy.  The project helped support the poor of Wyoming County, WV.   Halloween1The dads then sorted, boxed and transported the food to the food bank.  The boys focused on the collecting of food and talking with residents, while the dads worked out the sorting and logistics.  This project is so good, look for it as an official Conquest apostolic service project in next year’s official Team Leader Guidebooks!
